The Allison Inn and Spa frequently tops the list as one of the best hotels in the U.S., and even the world. This hotel and spa is located in the wine country that is the Willamette Valley, and you’re within 10 miles from dozens of wineries. You’re also close to the Chehalem Glenn Golf Course.

The Overview: The Allison is a traditionally designed hotel where you’ll find an earthy design style. There’s also decorations from local artists, and details like bay windows make it easy to take in the stunning Pacific Northwest surroundings. The hotel is about 25 miles southwest of Portland, and it’s surrounded by scenic gardens.

On the property is a gourmet restaurant, and the spa includes sumptuous services.

The Food: The property’s signature restaurant is JORY. The focus at JORY is on creative menu items using locally sourced ingredients, with an emphasis on garden-to-table dining and seasonally-inspired fare. The menu items at JORY are thoughtfully paired with local wines, and you can also choose customized wine pairing options. If you want something really out of the ordinary, you can take advantage of the Chef’s Table and Private Dining Room options. The Chef’s Table accommodates from 2-10 diners and you’ll enjoy a customized menu from Executive Chef Sunny Jin, as well as wine pairing chosen by the in-house sommelier. You’ll have a five-course seasonal dining experience.

The Spa: The Allison Spa features services that are inspired by the Oregon surroundings. The menu uses natural elements such as fruit, flowers, herbs and water. The spa provides an experience that connects visitors with the land. The spa totals more than 15,000 square feet, with 12 treatment rooms, an indoor pool, whirlpool and sun terrace and a private Sky Suite for gatherings of small groups.

The Rooms: Each of the thoughtfully designed rooms at The Allison includes built-in closets, upholstered window seats, and luxurious king-sized beds. The windows are massive, allowing in natural light and incredible vineyard vistas. Each rom includes a gas fireplace, wet bar, custom furniture and original art. Complimentary welcome snack baskets are included, as are rugs. Other room amenities include complimentary Wi-Fi, movies on demand, and spa-inspired bathrooms. The signature Allison room is the deluxe kings, but there are also queen rooms with two beds, balconies, and six-foot soaking tubs. If you want to step it up just a bit, The Allison offers suites including deluxe one-bedroom suites with living rooms, foyers, separate bedrooms and balconies. The ultimate room experience is the Grand Suite, located on the penthouse level with two separate bedrooms and two private bathrooms as well as a butler’s pantry, dining table with seating for six and a powder room.

The Activities: The primary focus of the activities at The Allison is wine tasting, but that’s not all there is to do. You can enjoy nature with a hike or bike ride, or visit the nearby boutiques and galleries that surround the area. For the more adventurous guest, you can tour the vineyards from a helicopter or hot air balloon, or even take a horseback ride through the vineyards.
