There is a new place to go to get away from it all. You are, literally, away from it all in the wilderness of Sweden. It is called an eco-lodge and it sits in the middle of a beautiful Swedish forest. It is heated via charcoal and you will be cooking your food over an open fire. It is certainly a vacation for the adventure hearted.
Need wood for the fire? Go and chop some yourself. Need to wash the dishes or clean yourself up? There is a river close by. The Kolarbyn Eco Lodge Hotel is certainly not a place for just any one. Only the truly hearty among us will love it and find it a place of peace.
There are a total of 12 lodges at the hotel and all come with a wood stove and two beds made of sheep skins. There is no cell phone reception. There is no wi-fi. There is no cable television. Just you and the wilderness. Also, there are no showers or bathroom facilities. There are a couple of sheds with toilets that use dirt to flush.
This region of Sweden has been populated by coal miners for over 400 years and these huts have been around for that long as well. The idea for the hotel was to keep the wilderness tradition alive and well. So, if you are looking for something a little different for your next vacation, this just may be the place.
