The Catbird Seat

The Cat Bird Seat features a menu of contemporary chef-created New American fare, and you’re served by the chefs, which makes it feel personalized and distinctive.

You’ll find tasting menus with several courses, along with an open kitchen concept.

If you really love not only good food but also eating as an experience, you’ll enjoy this spot, which features what Zagat calls “thorough explanations” of menu items.

Husk

At this outpost of the Charleston favorite you’re going to find elevated versions of Sothern fare including classics like shrimp and grits. Because of the fact Husk was initially launched in Charleston, you’re going to see that reflected in the menu.

Husk is set in a historic mansion in the SoBro neighborhood, and it’s all about the use of regional ingredients here.

Avo

This eatery features a plant-based concept, which is quite a departure from what you visualize when you think about eating in Nashville. The menu includes raw, vegan and vegetarian items like ravioli, acai bowls and cocktails made with fresh ingredients like agave, lime, and cilantro.

The space is built inside a shipping container with high ceilings, an industrial look and a living wall located behind the bar. You can also opt to eat outside on the patio.

Martin’s Barbecue

Martin’s barbecue is a smokehouse roasting whole hogs and while it’s no-frills it’s a mainstay in the Nashville food scene. There are several locations throughout town and the newest addition to the roster is a large spot on Belmot, featuring unique menu additions like The Hippy Salad.

Whole pigs are cooked over open flames, and there are plenty of beer, wine and spirit options on the menu of this casual Nashville barbecue eatery as well.

Mitchell’s Deli

While the concept is simple, Mitchell’s Deli has become a local favorite since opening its doors in 2008. You’ll find sandwiches and other items made with fresh and locally sourced ingredients, including Benton’s bacon, which is a favorite throughout central and east Tennessee.

Their signature sandwich and customer favorite is the Turkey Avocado, so if you’re in town for business or just have some time during a weekend trip, pay a visit to this deli.

Rolf and Daughters

The creation of a New York transplant, Rolf and Daughters features a stark-yet-stylish industrial design style and communal seating.

You’ll find food that’s meant to stick to your ribs, such as pasta made in-house and dishes where the focus is on the meat.

Everything features a unique twist, however. You’re not going to get anything that’s typical with a meal at Rolf and Daughters.
