W Brings Modern Style to Ft. Lauderdale

For a long time Ft. Lauderdale has managed to maintain a reputation as being the less fun and exciting sister city of Miami. Often seen as a haven for retirees, until recently Ft. Lauderdale wasn’t necessarily viewed as being a hip, chic vacation spot, but that’s all changing now.

Part of the reason views of Ft. Lauderdale are shifting is thanks to the development of exciting and modern luxury hotels in the area and one of the best is the W.

W Hotels are known for being impossibly cool, and the W Ft. Lauderdale is no exception.

The Rooms

One of the many things to love about this particular W is the view of either the ocean or Intracoastal waterway available from every room. You’re guaranteed gorgeous scenery wherever you turn. The hotel, with 517 rooms, takes up two towers and you get a lot more room than you’ll find at many of the other big city W’s.

If you’ve ever visited the W in Buckhead for example, you’ve probably experienced the smaller size of the rooms, but that’s not the case at their Ft. Lauderdale hotel, with rooms that feel sprawling and open.

These rooms are made up of a lot of glass, maximizing the views as much as is possible and they’re every bit as modern as the W is known for being. They feel sleek and streamlined, but also coastal and comfortable at the same time.

The Location and Amenities

The W Ft. Lauderdale is located right on the beach, offering easy access to the beautiful South Florida coastline.

In addition to the beach being right outside your door, you can also enjoy access to two separate and equally stylish pools, while nearby locales include The Gallery at Beach Place and the Las Olas Riverfront.

Dining

The on-site restaurant at W Ft. Lauderdale is the delicious and refined Steak 954. This eatery is the brainchild of world-famous restaurateur Stephen Starr and it’s a modern take on the classic American steakhouse.

Steak 954 includes simple but high-quality cuts of meat including dry-aged steaks and you can also find a great weekend brunch menu.

Along with delicious food Steak 954 has a long list of creative craft cocktails from which to choose.

If you’re looking for nightlife without leaving the property, visit Whiskey Blue. Whiskey Blue offers the opportunity to enjoy the stars from the sleek outdoor patio, in a sexy and ultra-exciting atmosphere. There’s a feeling of luxury and opulence at Whiskey Blue and it’s the kind of nightlife venue that makes you feel as if you could spot an A-list celebrity hanging out in the corner at any moment.

If you’re looking for a hotel that’s as stylish and cutting edge as what you’d find in Miami, but you want the more relaxed and laid-back atmosphere of Ft. Lauderdale, the W is certainly an area standout. It’s unlikely you’re going to find a more contemporary setting anywhere in the area.
