Spotlight On: Adventures by Disney

If there’s one thing most travelers can agree on, it’s that Disney offers a fantastic vacation experience. With that being said, many people who are adults traveling or families with older children, don’t necessarily want to go on a Disney cruise or go to Disney World.

Luckily, there’s something for these people as well.

Adventures by Disney was launched in 2005, and it’s the umbrella name for a Disney vacation program that offers packages to exotic locales throughout the world, as well as some domestic packages in the U.S.

The program went public in 2006, and the overall structure is a small group guided travel experience. There are usually 40 or fewer travelers, who are led by two Disney Adventure Guides. Most of these trips require children be at least four years old, with recommended minimum ages usually ranging from 4 to 6, although for some of the trips these ages are higher. There are also adults-only departures that happen throughout the year.

The goal of these packages is to provide a seamless and effortless travel experience. Activities, excursions, and meals are all planned for you. There’s a focus on providing an insightful and authentic travel experience, and you’ll have the opportunity to interact with local experts. If a tour includes a more adult-centric excursion, there are also children’s activities offered at the same time.

What’s unique about these Adventure packages is that many of the offered activities let you have a behind the scenes and after hours experience not offered to many travelers. The places you stay and the food you eat are all top-of-the-line as well.

Some of the newest adventure packages being offered right now include:

An 8-Night Danube River Cruise: Disney partners with AmaWaterways to allow travelers to see Europe from the water. Destinations you’ll enjoy along the way include Vilshofen and Passau Germany, Salzburg, Austria, Melk, Austria, Vienna, Austria and also stops in Hungary and Slovakia.

8 Nights in Spain: Explore the history and culture in a way that your kids will also enjoy in Spain. You’ll spend your days visiting sites like Madrid’s Royal Palace, the El Prado Museum, the Real Madrid Stadium and a seaside resort in Marbella. Accommodations include the Hotel Ritz and the Gran Melia Colon Hotel.

Nashville Long Weekend: If you’re looking for something a little closer to home you can opt for the Nashville Long Weekend package. This trip includes a show and backstage experience at the world famous Grand Ole Opry, a performance at the Bluebird Café and an after-hours visit at The Hermitage National historic site. The accommodations are at the massive and very family-friendly Gaylord Opryland hotel.

The Amazon: For the truly adventurous family there’s the Amazonian package. You’ll visit sites like the Amazon rainforests, Yasuni National Park, the Galapagos Islands and Quito. Accommodations with this package include the JW Marriot Hotel Quito and the Anakonda River Boat. You’ll do everything from ride on motorized canoes down the Napo to cooking Andes-style fare in Quito.
